  • What age does my dog need to be to attend?
Dogs need to be at least 4 months old and/or have all of their puppy vaccinations.
  • Do you separate dogs based on size?
As a science and psychology based facility it is important to note that restricting dogs based on size is a human fear and not something that naturally occurs in nature. Restrictions can create unnecessary uncertainty and lack of exposure could lead to unintentional flooding (a situation you can put your dog in where they have no idea how to deal with a sudden environmental change they were not prepared for) To help with this, we slowly integrate those dogs with fear or uncertainty around different breed sizes but similar energy levels in a positive and rewarding environment.
  • What should I bring for my dog for daycare and/or boarding?
For daycare, bring your dog, their collar or harness, and leash. If your dog needs lunch or if they didn’t eat breakfast - you can bring their food. As long as we have kennels available - we provide lunches between 11:30 am and 12 pm. For boarding - bring your dog, any meds, supplements, their collar/harness and leash, their food, and any special treats from home. Please do not bring any bedding or crates from home. We have plenty of bedding and kennels for your pups to feel safe and comfortable in. We also offer house food for $2 per meal.
  • Do you accept reactive dogs?
Yes, we do accept reactive dogs. However, we have limited capacity for these dogs as they require a higher amount of time than others. Please let us know about your reactive dog when scheduling an evaluation.
  • Do you offer emergency boarding?
Yes, as long as your dog has already had their evaluation completed, and if we have the space we can accommodate for emergency boarding stays.
  • What if I made a reservation and our plans changed?
We kindly ask that you give us a call or send us an email as soon as you know that your dog will not be visiting us. This will help us know how to plan for the day. If you do not show up, and you do not let us know - we will mark that as a no call, no show. If you have too many no call, no shows on your account - you may be asked to prepay in the future. After 3 no shows, we reserve the right to refuse services.
  • How can I check on my dog while I’m away?

  • What if I’m late to pick up and you are already closed? Do you have a late fee?
If you know you are going to be late - please do call and let us know ASAP. If you are more than 15 minutes late picking up your dog past closing time, we will automatically board them overnight. Standard nightly rates will apply. Why was I charged an extra $15 when I picked up my boarding dog? If you pick up your boarding dog after 11 am on the day of pick-up, the charge is to cover the extra half day of daycare.

  • What do you use to sanitize your facility?
We use kennelsol, odoban, simple green, lysol, and liquid alive products. We clean kennels before, during, and after stays. We vacuum and mop our inside yard, hallways, and lobby nightly. We spray our yards every night - rotating between the chemicals we use. Once a week - we spray yards with flea and tick spray. And twice a month - we steam clean our facilities.
  • Do you administer medications?
Yes! We absolutely administer medications per instructions you provide us with. For speciality cases, we will request to make a video of how to apply or provide medical care for your dog so our entire team is on the same page.
  • What if my dog needs to see a vet while boarding?
If your dog is injured while in our care, we will immediately assess the situation and the injury. We will then come up with a game plan and call you immediately. If your dog’s injury requires a visit to the vet, one of our team members will drive your pup to a local veterinarian - whether that is your personal vet or another local one. Depending on severity, if we cannot get a hold of you - part of the service agreement you sign before attending our facility is to give us approval to take them to the vet on your behalf for treatment. We will keep you updated in all aspects and we will follow the vet’s directions to a T.
  • What happens if my dog gets diarrhea while boarding?
We will provide supplements such as pumpkin or administer a diarrhea medication depending on the severity. We will also call you to check in and see if you may have any suggestions to help them as you know them best. If the diarrhea persists, or if we see anything concerning - we will determine together if they need to be taken to a vet.
  • What if I have a special needs dog? I.e. Seizures, wheelchair, deaf, blind etc?
We do our absolute best to accommodate all dogs regardless of their abilities. We may just ask you more questions so that we handle your precious dog with the same level of care you provide at home. All special needs dogs are welcomed here for daycare and/or boarding. For boarding, there will be a $50 per night additional charge.
  • Can my dog attend with fleas/worms?
No. your dog must be healthy and free of any contagious/transmittable diseases, parasites, and illnesses. If your dog is dropped off and we find fleas - we will give them a flea bath and charge you $15 at pick-up.
  • Do you require my dog to be on a flea preventative?
While we do not require your dog to be on a flea preventative - we do request that they not attend if they have fleas. We do have senior dogs and dogs with immunocompromised systems that can be adversely affected if they come into contact with fleas.
  • Can my dog attend if they are not fixed?
Yes, your dog can attend our facility if they are not fixed with a few caveats. Female dogs cannot be in heat while here as their hormones can cause the male dogs to react, sometimes aggressively. It is a liability issue and we kindly ask that they not return until after their heat. If we notice any aggressive behavior developing due to them not being fixed - we will let you know and keep you in the loop. We understand that it’s common practice to not get your large dogs fixed until they are older due to the variety of possible health concerns, but if their behavior worsens, we may ask that your dog not come back until they have training or are fixed.
  • Do any of your staff have Pet First Aid & CPR training?
Yes. Three of our team members have their Pet First Aid & CPR training certifications.
  • What if my dog gets sick while in your care?
While we pride ourselves on maintaining a clean facility and preventing the spread of canine illnesses, there are some canine illnesses that do not show symptoms for multiple days and by then, exposure to other dogs has already happened. If your dog gets sick while in our care, we will always contact you. If they start exhibiting symptoms while attending daycare, we will contact you to come pick them up and quarantine them until you arrive. If they start exhibiting symtoms while boarding with us, we will contact you and continuously update you with the game plan we come up with. If needed, we will transport your dog to the vet and provide any medication they give them. Upon pick-up, if there is any medication left, we will provide you with the instructions the vet gave us. One of the agreements you sign upon starting with Grand Fur Lodge gives us the ability to take your dog to the veterinarian and seek care on your behalf.
  • Does my dog need an evaluation just for Grooming?

If your dog is just coming to us for Grooming and not daycare, boarding, or training - our groomers require your dog to have their Rabies up-to-date.
  • If my dog comes in for grooming, can they join the daycare dogs?
If your dog has already had their Daycare & Boarding Evaluation completed - then we’d be happy to let your grooming dog join the fun. If your dog has not had their Evaluation completed - they will not be allowed to join the daycare dogs.
  • Late policy for grooming appointments
If you are more than 15 minutes late to your scheduled grooming session, we will have to cancel your appointment and reschedule you.
  • What should I bring to 1-on-1 training/group training?
